By my father telling me to read the Bible, I was saved at the age of eleven. The Lord had spoken to my father to read the Bible and I was faithful to His speaking through my father. By reading the Bible, faith was put into me to be saved (Romans 10:17). Throughout my middle and high school years, I read through the Bible faithfully; however, by the time of my college years I had a longing for a deeper speaking that I was not getting. In essence, I was hungry for some solid meat in the Word (1 Corinthians 3:2).

In college I met some Christians who met with the local church that led me to the writings of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. During my first two years of college I read only a handful of their books, but as my appetite grew, I decided to read as much as I could in my junior year of college. The light I received from those books and the depth within them were amazing to me. I had never heard such words of truth and life; each book was so refreshing to me. I would read each book with all the scriptural references they contained. Those books helped me to put the Bible together in a way that I had never seen before. The truth in the Word of God became more alive to me than it had ever been before.

I really appreciate Watchman Nee's and Witness Lee's books because they really know the Bible. They exhibit the word of God richly through their ministry and literary works. They cover every topic in the Bible in a very inclusive way. The books that I read were saturated with the Word. Any Christian that loves reading the Bible and reads Nee's and Lee's books with all the Bible references will see the Bible come alive. This will also increase their faith, love and appreciation for the Lord Jesus and His speaking. This has been my experience--not only mine but countless others' also.

In my search for the truth, I have never found as much spiritual content as revealed in these books. They have greatly enlightened and enriched me over the years. Watchman Nee and Witness Lee have been a real inspiration to me to pursue the Lord Jesus, to search out the truth and to seek after God's hearts' desire, just as these two had done in their lifetimes. Paul said in Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” These brothers (believers) definitely have lived up to Paul's exhortation.

Over the past few years while meeting with Christians from the local church and reading Nee's and Lee's books, my spiritual growth has greatly accelerated by building up a greater capacity for the Word of God, knowing Christ as my very purpose for living, and increasing my spiritual experiences of Christ. Though I have read only a couple dozen of their books, I have made my life-long endeavor to read as much of their ministry as I can. Only a few things in life are worth pursuing, and the Christ contained in their speaking is one thing worth every bit of my time in my Christian life.
